So Sen. John McCain made the centerpiece of his presidential campaign Joe the Plumber. I'm not sure how many central themes this is, 5 or 6, but anyhoo, problems began to scurry out immediately. McCain's meme was that regular guys like Joe would get hit with higher taxes, and not work as hard.
- Joe owes back taxes, which means whatever Joe is charged, he ain't paying anyhow.
- Joe isn't a licensed Plumber.
- Joe makes less than $250,000 meaning he'll get a tax break under Obama's plan.
- The company Joe wants to buy only makes $100k, and they'll get a tax cut under Obama's plan.
- Joe's ex wife says Joe is an a-hole.
So to recap, McCain saw an opportunity, and reached out to Joe the plumber in haste and desperation.
McCain didn't properly vet Joe.
McCain didn't take the time to understand the tax plans, and the effect it would have on Joe.
McCain has a strong disdain for middle class Americans and union workers.

Digg It!
And yet no interest in Bill The Bomber

So John McCain apologizes to Joe the plumber for bringing the attention of the media down upon him.
Then back on the campaign trail he blames the Obama campaign for unfairly targeting Joe the Plumber and making him the center of attention, like it was Obama who brought up Joe the Plumber 20 times during the last debate.
If the McCain campaign seems confused and unfocused, that is because McCain himself is confused and unfocused . . . and unhinged.
