OK. So I watched the debate tonight and all I can say is yawn. McCain did just OK. But Obama did just OK too. I really didn't see anything in either one to say yes about.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not going to vote for Obama no matter what happens. He doesn't appeal to me in the least probably because I think. I don't make $250,000.00 a year yet. Close, but not quite. But I still fear Obama's tax raising plans, his idea of having our government more involved in health care or his plans to offer free college to those who want to go. Let's face it, not everyone is cut out for college. Nor do I believe for a moment that there is a chance in hell that his leadership in the past offers any reason to believe that he would be able to bring about any change in this country for the positive. $860,000,000,000.00 in new spending seems just a bit outlandish to me, call me cynical, but $250,000.00 a year is not rich. Taxing those people, people who for the most part own small businesses is simply going to lead to more business failures, leaving the coffers more empty than full. Not to mention his lack of understanding of the fact that our military was created, trained and financed for the sole purpose of killing people and breaking s***. We are not the worlds peace keepers nor are we the worlds pizza delivery service for the starving. Our role is to lead not feed.

McCain on the other hand made his points but to what effect? Did he get a rise out of Obama? No, not really. did he come off a bit smug? They both did at times with McCain's facial features revealing just a bit too much of his personal feelings for my liking. But I have to remind myself that the rights candidate was chosen in large part by demo-idiots jumping parties to vote our candidate in. Just a fact folks.

McCain blew it but Obama did not really pick up anything tonight. Too bad for both.  We still have a split in this country but to my dismay I may well wake up the morning of November 5th and find that Obama has won a slight victory but a big enough one to make recounts a thing of the past.

So what was accomplished tonight? Nothing. No great announcements, not great new ideas and no substance from either candidate. When are we going to get another leader in this country who can stand before us and make us dream again of the greatness of America and offer us a vision of an America that stands strong and glorious?

I watched the pundits from Rove and Hannity to Couric and others on CBS give us the recap, both claiming their guy did better. What the f*** were they watching? Not this debate.

Whatever. It's a shame that our country has lowered it's standards to such a low point that we could collectively believe that this is the best America has to offer. The old white guy with years of experience but little charisma vs. the young black guy little experience but high marks for charisma, saddled with the outsider Governor with more executive experience than any of them vs. the other old white guy with decades of experience but little to show for it. I once read that what fills a vacuum of leadership is worse than the vacuum itself. Well I understand that now. Since the of the Reagan administration we have not had a leader in this country that we could look at and think, "That guy is the one in charge."

And no matter which one of these guys win we will still be looking for others to lead us. No wonder there is such a malaise in this country when it comes to people voting. Americans offer us s*** to vote for so why show up? Out system of picking candidates is a joke. Primaries need to be held on the same day not staggered over months, and run off primaries need to be held the following week to secure a real leader from either party. Public financing of both major candidates and those of lesser parties needs to be made mandatory. Wouldn't it be nice if a third party came out of the woodwork and steal the day just once?

Sidebar- I just saw the results from a text poll on Fox. they claim that with 82000 votes McCain is the winner 87 to 12% with 1% undecided. Geraldine Ferraro was asked if she agreed and said it was a bunch of young kids texting. I thought the young loved Obama? Now I could have accepted her saying that it was a bunch of conservatives voting heavy for their guy. Are these people even on the same page? Just a thought.

Back to my rant... It's just a big joke the way this country picks people for high office. Obama can't run this countries national affairs. McCain can't run this countries finances. Let's just admit these things to ourselves.

I hope that in 4 years we are given real choices between two different kinds of candidates, both of whom have Americas best interests at heart. We don't have that this year. We have the has-been vs. the never has-been.

But what would I know; I'm just an Average American.
