Our supposed BORN AGAIN president Bush says that high gas prices are like a tax on Americans? Is this neo-fascist republican from Mars? Or just born without a brain? Nearly 70% of all voters now see what a complete disaster voting for this phony religious zealot was! The greatest tax on Americans is the ongoing murder of our troops in an Iraq war trumped up on all lies by Fascist Bush! And now our 50 billion dollars per month spent on Bushes war is making our national debt soar to new all time highs. His trade deficit is also out of control and soon China and India will be eating our American lunch. They will own us if all U.S. colleges are not opened to all who are academically able! Our current classicst, elitists, for the rich only government Had better wake up NOW! It is time for cooperation between WE THE PEOPLE, OUR government, and giant American corporations to help educate and elevate our country's youth (OR ELSE)! Our country will be doomed if we keep allowing bird brained tax giveaways to the rich. Yes, gas prices are a very heavy burden on Americans, But the biggest tax ever is this murderer . . . George Walker Bush!

| The solution is golf cars! They are now made to do 40mph. This would end the gas gouging by our monopolistic oil companies who's republican background never heard of the word patriotism, ONLY greed is their credo. I suggest cars move over and make way for golf cars all over America. Its time to put a 30 mph speed limit on cars and a 40 mph on golf cars, this would limit use of the auto to vacation driving and open the roadways all over the usa to sensible conservation. END OF PROBLEM!

| i saw this thing on discovery the other day (i think it was the discovery channel) on dirty jobs. theres a way to process used grease from resturaunts, the kind you deep fry s*** in, that turns it into a useable fuel for deisel engines. 44 miles to the gallon for the truck they had on the show, cost about 55 cents a gallon too. just thought i would let everyone know. no real reason why im even on the site at the moment =) |

| The battery technology you are hoping for has been here for 30 plus years. The EV1 car that Ford put out a few years ago was only about 20 years behind the times. The forklit industry has been running electrics since the 50's with a full 8 hour work day with the same EV1 and EV100 controllers. The problem is more with the output needing to be steady throughout the day. Driving does not allow for this with the speeds involved. The newer GE and Sevcon controllers work better and might be rigged to allow for the increase speeds, but the batteries, whether gel cell or water need a recovery time equal to the charging time which is equal to the running time, approximately. So you are running three identical batteries. One running (8 hours), one charging (8 hours) and one cooling from the 8 hour charge. The fuel stations for these would have to be battery pack exchange programs. You simply can't short or quick charge a battery and expect it to run like a fully and properly charged battery would. An industrial lift truck battery is produced in 12,24,36,48,72 and occationally 84 volt. 72 and 84 are rare and extremely expensive. The 24-48 are the most common and retail for $1800.00 to $4600.00 with the 72's and larger going for upwards of $8000.00ea. You would have to have at least 2 per vehicle plus a ready supply of exchanges, always charging and cooling in an 8 hour intravals. The very idea that a fuel station could put out the capital to have at the ready enough batteries in the proper state of fully ready and cooled is emence, add to that the room needed to store the pack which would have to have 12-48 plus cells large enough to all produce the 2 volts needed in unison and the variety of packs designed for each car manufacturer. Golf cart sounded good, but reality is, unless we have one style of undercarriage, with removable body types on top, all running the same battery configuration for the internal body structure, it's a pipe dream. Did I mention that the batteries weigh 1200 to 6000 lbs and the more they weigh the less efficient they are on the road. This is why Honda and Toyota are trying out the small hydrogen cells, which do hold the charge longer and charge up quicker and can be made smaller. But again, the room to hold a big charge takes big space like an industrial. We will not be seeing people turn in their gas using vehicles for something that might not work in the cold, hot, wet or even just simply short out any time soon. |
