Consider Obama.

At a grocery store in a small, N. Az town today, I saw tables of Obama supporters.  They had the bumper stickers, signs, urging people to vote, etc.  One of the people was barely old enough to vote himself . . . and I think THAT could be Bo's hope. 

It reminded me not so much of the efforts for JFK  . . .altho I went with my Dad to hear him speak, and got to shake his hand, I was still a kid and did not understand it all.  There was much talk about his religion, though, I recall that, and perhaps the undlying issue of Bo's race is similar.

The people working the tables took me back to 1972.  I was a student in Boston and did some campaigning for McGovern.  Handing out leaflets outside the subway stations, things like that.  We thought he had a message of peace the country was ready for . . .and we were so wrong... after the fiasco I had a bumper sticker on my van that said:

Massachusetts 1

I'll bet most of the people who remember that campaign recall all the accusations of McGovern being a peacenik or a pacifist...and I'll bet you even today most of THEM still do not know that he was a pilot of a B-24 during WWII and flew his full complement of missions, whereaas Nixon was a clerk in the Navy.  This concerns me if McCain makes it you will hear it all over again......about defeatist Democrats, etc.

Living amongst thousands of students gave us false hope.  I hope that is not true here.  And I also was an Edwards guy who will likely now turn to Barak.

• Independent voters always go different ways.  Just remember, that a lot of these fake independents were stupid enough to vote for Bush in 2000.  That, by itself, shows their deficiencies in the judgment department.
  
  
• Republicans, I suspect, turned out to vote for Obama to try to knock Hillary out early in the primary season.  You think those Republicans who want another Scalia are really going to vote for a liberal Democrat?  No.  They voted in Democratic ("open") primaries and I wouldn't rule out the notion that many voted to do in Hillary Clinton.
  
  
• Black voters will more often than not vote for black candidates.  In my view, there are two Americas, one for whites and one for blacks, but these worlds exist because, 1) racists like Sharpton created it, 2) the "Mainstream Media" maintains it, and 3) black people and liberals need something to complain about.
  
  
• Whites voted for Obama because they're mostly Democrats and they either, 1) saw past Obama's race and really like him, 2) they wanted to believe he was JFK and tell their grandchildren they voted for the first black president, or 3) they voted for him out of guilt.
  
  
• Young people turned out for Obama because they're easily taken in and led by sleaze.

Oh, and did I fail to mention that Obama will have Ophrah Winfrey in his Corner on Tuesday?!? 

How do you spell "INVINCIBLE"?

Did I forget to mention that Obama is of Afro-American heritage?  Some have said that his election to the Presidency of they United States of America would be looked upon quite favorably in much of the rest of the world.
