Some people are finally starting to take notice of the Chinese threat in this latest disregard for America's best interest.
The State Department is purchasing more than 15,000 computers built by the Lenovo Group of China. The PCs are coming from factories in Raleigh, N.C., and Monterrey, Mexico, that were part of the personal computer division that Lenovo purchased from I.B.M.
The computer contracts are drawing heat from a diverse group of liberal and conservative critics who have been warning about China's growing power for years.
Critics object that the deal could open up the opportunity for China to spy on American embassies and American intelligence-gathering activities by planting clandestine hardware and software in the computers.
The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIS) approved the Lenovo acquisition of the I.B.M. division a couple of years ago.
And the CFIS Dufuses are hard at work as we speak. Frightening, isn’t it?
