Now we have Palin-McCain repeating that Obama will raise taxes on the middle class, they are the agents of change, she has been to Iraq, etc. None of it true, but it remains to be seen whether repetition will jackhammer the Palin-McCain lies into the heads of the gullible.

Just more of the same with Palin and McCain.

Joseph Goebbels explained the concept clearly and concisely. He laid it out on the table, but the concept was not a Nazi concept. He just happened to be the Propaganda Minister for the Third Reich, but he/they had no trademark on it. He simply explained it with no ifs, ands or buts.

I woke up to Public Radio on my alarm clock this morning, and heard McCain's economic adviser answering pointed questions about McCain's contradictory statements on the economy. They played audio of McCain decrying the lack of regulation of the financial markets yesterday as the reason for the collapse of Lehman Brothers and the impending doom of AIG. And then they played audio of McCain telling another audience a few weeks ago that the problem with the economy is that there are too many regulations.

At this point McCain's spokesman, attempting to cover for his boss's obvious disconnect and fundamental pandering on the issue, said what McCain really meant was he wanted to even the playing field so that all financial institutions had the same regulations. The host then asked if leveling the playing field would result in decreased regulations for some businesses, and increased regulations for others, which would absolutely contradict one McCain statement or the other. And wasn't John McCain's voting record -- to always removed regulations, the underlying cause of the housing and credit meltdown in the first place? This was not a very comfortable interview for the McCain camp.

The point is, a good propagandist knows their audience, and tells them what they want to hear. Goebbels would be proud of the McCain campaign (although even Karl Rove thinks they might have gone to far with the out and out lies). What will be McCain's undoing is the video camera, recording his contradictory statements one after another after another. At the end of the day, that's all his confused message his ever been about: a pander to the right, a rebranding, a pander to the independents, another rebranding, and then a pander to the right again along with the promise he'll put a Democrat somewhere in his cabinet. It really is insulting when the pandering is all laid out in front of you, and I can't blame true conservatives for not really liking him. He thinks you're stupid.

He might have gotten away with it too, until he and Palin attacked the media at the RNC. Up to now, the media has been the hand that feed McCain, and looked the other way when he wetted himself. Now the media isn't covering for him anymore, and the questioning is getting more pointed, even from journalists who in the past would have given him a pass. The Palin bump is over. There is no where to go but down from here.

I have never supported any gun ban.

John McCain supports special tax breaks for oil companies.

John McCain wants 100 years of war in Iraq.

Now, these are four, on the record, irrefutable lies told by Barak Obama. So in the future in the interest of accuracy, I need to demand that all of you radical, fringe, left-wing, America hating social misfits refer to Barak Obama as "The Liar" in any future posts.

I give you this "lie." In a field of 10 other Democrats he made this ill-advised pledge during the primaries. Oh my god, a politician who made a promise and then changed his mind as circumstances changed. Of course he would have been an idiot six months later to stick to this pledge, and then you would have condemned his as a loser, too weak to be President. Obama's fundraising far outstripped his Republican competition, which is a difficult thing not to take advantage of once nominated. Particularly so, since the Republican Party has far more money in its coffers than the Democratic Party, and if both Obama and McCain were to equalize their personal campaign funds using federal dollars, then McCain would be far ahead in the total dollar resources he could throw into the race during the general campaign season.

I have never supported any gun ban.

And he never did. From snopes.com:

His legislative record in Illinois shows strong support for gun restrictions, such as limiting handgun purchases to one a month, but no attempts to ban them. Today, he stands by his support for controls while trying to reassure hunters that he has no interest in interfering with their access to firearms.

John McCain supports special tax breaks for oil companies.

Well he either votes against, or is conveniently absent from, votes on Senate legislation that would curtail tax subsidies for oil companies or legislation that would seek to impose a windfall profits tax. He tax plan, by lowering the corporate tax rate from 35% to 25%, would result in a $3.8 billion gift to the big five oil companies. Are these "special" tax breaks? Well, for all intents and purposes, they are huge tax breaks for an industry at the cornerstone of his Drill Baby Drill energy plan. That's "special" in my book.

John McCain wants 100 years of war in Iraq.

An exaggeration (and that never happens during campaigns either). McCain has blithely stated that he'd be O.K. if U.S. troops were stationed in Iraq for the next 50 or 100 years (like Korea or Japan) so long as they weren't getting injured or killed. Very compassionate. And is he O.K. with the cost of that 100-year occupation? Apparently he doesn't think about it very much. Obama did say on at least one occasion that McCain was O.K. with 100 more years of war in Iraq while he was on the campaign trail. But he also said on other occassions that McCain is O.K. with "staying" in Iraq for another 100 years, or McCain thinks it's O.K. if we "occupied" Iraq for the next 100 years. Those last two statements are completely accurate.
