For the first time ever all four #1 seeds made it to the Final Four. For the first time ever the sandbaggers, like ESPN's Jay Bilas, got it right! I never thought the day would come where the Final Four was made of All Chalk and it wouldn't of happened if Stephen Curry, or his PG, dropped 1 more long-range-bomb on Kansas.
I'm still in the running to win my office pool with UCLA to beat UNC in the finals. I'm pretty confident it can happen for the same reasons I picked the Bruins at the beginning of the tourney. Great D, Great Coach, Great talent. They even survived a close game against Texas A&M to prepare for the big games this weekend.
Memphis rolled through the South division looking just as dominant in the tourney as they had in the Conference USA season. D-Rose is the real deal like Holyfield (Gotta be a Top 3 pick) and C.D.R. was named First Team All-American. Their bigs are freakish athletes and they're deep, although their backup PG isn't making the trip for violating team rules. Thug-life baby. Calipari is a master motivator but he'll have to pull a Pacino in Any Given Sunday to inspire the best run-n-gun team since Tark's UNLV Rebels to cut down the nets.
For UCLA to advance three things must happen:
Ben Howland's defense is going to have to be lock-down. Collison and Westbrook can't let Rose get off to a fast start.
Love has got to get the Memphis front court in foul trouble. He's going to be pump faking so much we might see him in a neck brace for the rest of the summer.
And J. Shipp must break out of his scoring slump. He's been really bad thus far but the Bruins need him to at least come close to the production of C.D.R. He's been in this position before, we'll see if he can rise up.
Bruins keep it close, take over late for 70-64 victory.
UNC rolls 75-62
