| Oh, if only this were so. Don't count on Lieberman or Specter to reliably side with the Democrats. Don't expect help from Baucus, Conrad, or Landrieu in crafting meaningful health care reform. Bernie Sanders is not even a Democrat, although he is a far better progressive than most of our so-called Democratic progressives. So I guess what I am trying to say is, don't count your votes before they're hatched. On the other hand, every extra vote on the side of reason and sanity counts. |

| What Sen. Franken is is a very reliable liberal vote. If an issue is coming down with 55 yea votes, and Reid needs to pull 5 more, that is impossible. But, with Snowe, and a few other rational Republicans coming over on single issues, getting Lieberman, Specter, Baucus, Conrad, and Landrieu won't be as hard. Plus Landrieu talks rightie, but votes with the caucus, same with Conrad. |
