What a refreshingly insightful article Scott Manley.  It’s so nice to see such a thoughtful analysis again here at VofA.  Thank you, thank you! 

I see that you published a couple of articles as recently as July of this year.  I missed them and will read them.  But it also suggests that you are monitoring this site even though you are not writing as frequently as the Cretins and I do.  It comforts me to know that someone of your thoughtful caliber is watching as the ranks of the rational contributors are decimated by banning and the dogfight here swirls down the sewer drain. 

Your article brings back wonderful recollections of how it used to be here on this site.  Perhaps your contributions can help us to elevate the discourse once again to that higher plane. 

But be prepared for the on slot of the ignorant and malignant Cretins that have infested the site.

Sara Palin's son volunteered with full knowledge he would probably be sent to Iraq or some other front of the GWOT long before she was selected for the VP slot. So your argument is reduced to she used him as a prop for her governorship where she had a huge favorability rating to begin with. Sorry, that makes no sense.

When Palin reminded the depating troops they were off to fight the people responsibile for 911 she was citing the fact of Al Qaeda's presence in Iraq. Recall the Progryssve mantra claiming AlQ was not present in Iraq before the US led invasion doesn't dispute they are in Iraq now. Palin's reminder then, is not a lie unless you have proof that Al Qaeda is no longer in Iraq and Palin knows it. If you have proof Al Q has left Iraq, please share it.

I'll proudly add "cretin" to my list of personal insults applied to me by desperate Progryssves. It is not as sweeping as "war criminal" but it is much more creative than "idiot." That discomfort you feel when you read my comments is the initial stirrings of independent thought.  As Arrianna Huffington expounds at length in her latest book, Progryssves need to be protected from the other side of an issue; to paraphrase, the media presents issues like there are 2 sides to them, how shocking! Since Progryssves advocate government as the solution to all problems, what  government solution does AZ Mod advocate here?

...Yesterday, Sarah Palin sent her son Track off to Iraq, reminding him and the world that he was fighting against the people who hit us on 9/11, and delighted in it...

I still go back to the words one of my visiting relatives said on that day as we watched on the TV the evil deed unfolding.  She, who never withnessed what we have become, because she passed away soon after 9/11, and probably would be disappointed in us as Americans.  She said...sort of prophetically "America will not be the same tomorrow".

I remember something different.  I remember the media showing a Palistinan child's birthday party that was posted on the internet long before the terrorist attack and calling it a celebration of Muslims for what happened on September 11 2001.  Once the lie was out in the media, and repeated time and time again, the truth about the birthday party didn't matter, even though it has been proven a lie...time and time agian.

I honestly think that Sarah Palin's mindset believes that "the people responsible for September 11" do live in Iraq,  Palistine, Jordon, Iran, Pakistan, Afganistan, Syria, Malayaisa, and Dearborn Michigan.  To her radical Christian dominionist view, anyone Muslim is "responsible" for 9/11.  Remember that this view believes that they are in a "holy war" with the forces of evil, and anything other than her view (including, but not limited to Islam) is part of, whether expressed or implied that evil force.  This is the danger in putting her within reach of the Assured Mutual Destruction (MAD) button.  She would use that power to either force her views on others, or to press it because we have become too evil to deserve to live.  Her reason for pushing it would be "the will of God". 

I personally don't see her mindset intentionally using her son as a propaganda tool to get elected.  I see her as a mother blessing her son to fight a holy war against "those people who are responsbile for 9/11."   Unfortuantly it is not just al Quid'a, she believes as "responsble", and this is why the war against the real threats is not being won.  She, and people who believe like she does are making more enemies than friends.  

The problem with the Christian Dominionist world view is the same as the Islamic Dominionist world view.  They will kill us for our own good.

AZRWinger, correct me if my memory fails me, but I don’t recall calling you a Cretin.

Fabulous!  That is a classic.  Send that to the Obama campaign.  Obama apparently has finally decided to take the gloves off and call these aggressive liars out, and this is spot on.

I see by the reduction in stars that the Cretins have arrived – clandestinely.  No comment reveals who dinged the article.  My 2 Cents has called that cowardly – if a reasonable person does it. 

Jeff...I expected more better of you than this.  I personally believe that Sarah Palin's PERSONAL family matters are off limits.  I do believe that mentioning the person by name is an unwarranted attack on that person.  It takes away thier expectation of personal privacy.

I do know where you are going with this notion, and I understand why you mention it.  It goes to the broader issue.  How can Sarah Palin manage, using her view of the world that should be manifested in her family on others.  I think THAT question is a legitimate one, not that her daughter (mentioned by name) is pregnant and unwed, but did her mother's personal view, goverend mostly by her religious beliefs impact her daughter.  What could have been different, had the "abstanance only" policy of the household been augmented by teaching, or giving access to teaching responsible sexual procedures.  What if a sexually active person contracts an illness because he or she only was taught the "abstainence only" doctrine.

Jeff...all of us have something to hide, something or someone that reflects badly on our family, our cultural and religious beliefs.  I certianly don't want my failures as a mom of 3 beautiful children plastered on the tabloids.  I can look back and see some of them in hindsight.  On this, I have to take Sarah's side on this for 100 reasons.  I am a mother also is 99 of them.

The other reason?...the more we focus on Sarah Palin, whether negative, positive, or what shade of lipstick she is wearing, we are not talking about the issues that matter, and that impact on us as Americans.  We are handing the GOP what they want on a silver platter by focusing on the trivial, rather than at every turn, forcing them (McCain and Palin) to talk about how or what they will do to make our lives as AMERICANS more prosperous.

Lets change the conversation AWAY from Sarah Palin and her personal family, and use the oppurtunity to confront her on what should happen to those abusing drugs,  why are legal percription drugs so accessable to teenagers,  and what should be the legislative policy concerning teen sexual activity and it's consequenses.

Surely you jest Know it All.  You have to be pulling or chain with this lame argument.

Where’s the beef?  All the evidence points to the fact that the so-called Al Qaeda's presence in Iraq was local resistance adopting the name but not the cause. 

 Recall the Progryssve mantra claiming AlQ was not present in Iraq before the US led invasion doesn't dispute they are in Iraq now.   

Balderdash, but do let me tell you Al Qaeda has set up bases of operation on the moon.  They were not there before the invasion and occupation of Iraq, but that doesn’t dispute their presence on the moon now.   

Come on Know it All, do you actually read your own “arguments”?

Palin's reminder then, is not a lie unless you have proof that Al Qaeda is no longer in Iraq and Palin knows it. If you have proof Al Q has left Iraq, please share it.  

Al Qaeda is/was/will be in on the moon.  Yukon Sally’s opinion than is not a lie unless YOU have proof that Al Qaeda is no longer on the moon!  And Yukon Sarah knows it, so there!  You can take that fact to the bank.    

However, if you have proof Al Q was ever in Iraq, please share it.  And Palin’s opinion, belief or even her conviction is not proof. 

Here is a little general purpose ditty that can be applied to Yukon Sarah, McCane, and all of their quacking apologists:
